Attachment & Relationship Concerns

Relationships can bring some of our deepest sense of connection—and some of our deepest fears. You may find yourself overthinking a loved one’s words or tone, worrying about rejection or abandonment, struggling to trust, pulling away when things feel too close, or feeling like you need reassurance to feel secure. You may know you want healthy, connected relationships but find yourself falling into patterns that are difficult to understand or change.

The way we experience relationships is shaped by many things, including our early relationships, past experiences, attachment patterns, and what we have learned about trust, closeness, and emotional safety. These experiences can influence how we respond to conflict, express our needs, set boundaries, and navigate closeness with partners, family members, friends, and other important people in our lives.

Relationships are also shaped by what is happening in the present. Communication difficulties, trust, conflict, differing needs, family dynamics, life transitions, and past hurts can all affect how connected and secure you feel. Therapy can provide a space to understand these patterns, work through difficult experiences, and build relationships that feel healthier and more secure.
