Couples Therapy

Relationships can be deeply rewarding—and deeply challenging.

Sometimes the same arguments keep happening, conversations turn into conflict or shutdown, or you find yourselves feeling more like roommates than partners. You may be struggling with trust, communication, intimacy, parenting differences, or the impact of something that has happened between you.

Other times, there isn’t one major problem—you simply want to understand each other better, strengthen your connection, and build a healthier relationship together.

Couples therapy provides a space to slow down, understand what is happening beneath the conflict, and learn new ways of connecting and communicating. Our work is collaborative and non-judgmental, with a focus on helping both partners feel heard, understood, and respected.

How Couples Therapy Can Help

Therapy isn't about deciding who is right or wrong. It's about understanding the patterns that develop between you and finding ways to respond to one another differently.

Together, we may work on:

  • Understanding your relationship's patterns and cycles
  • Communicating needs without criticism or defensiveness
  • Listening and responding with greater empathy
  • Repairing after conflict
  • Building trust and emotional safety
  • Managing differences more effectively
  • Strengthening friendship, connection, and intimacy
  • Developing healthier ways to navigate difficult conversations

We may also explore how each person's experiences, needs, expectations, and ways of coping can influence the relationship—without placing blame on either partner.

Our Approach

Our couples work is informed by the Gottman Method, a research-based approach to understanding what helps relationships thrive.

We attend to the concerns that bring you to therapy while also looking more deeply at the patterns, dynamics, and vulnerabilities that may be contributing to them. Through an in-depth assessment of your relationship, we explore the key elements that research shows contribute to healthy, connected partnerships—identifying where your strengths lie, where challenges are arising, and where therapeutic efforts can have the greatest impact.

This allows us to address what’s happening now while working toward deeper, meaningful change that can create lasting improvements in how you connect, communicate, and navigate challenges together.

When You’re Ready

You don't have to wait until things feel unbearable to seek support. Sometimes reaching out earlier can help prevent patterns from becoming more deeply established.

Whether you're working through a difficult chapter or simply want to feel more connected, couples therapy can provide a space to slow down, understand each other, and move forward together.
